A saison aged in Westland Distillery peated whiskey casks
Pjotr (PEE-oh-ter) is a distinctive beer in our repertoire, starting with a base beer brewed with Purple Egyptian Barley and aged in highly expressive peated whiskey casks from our friends at Westland Distillery. While many smoked and cask-aged beers are dark in color and rich in flavor, Pjotr goes against the grain, bringing notes of grilled stone fruit to complement the inherent peated undertones.
This year’s batch dials back the smoke character a touch, which highlights the peach and apricot notes present from our house culture. Blended from several casks and aged for six months, we embraced the variation of these casks while tasting through and deliberating on the final blend. We are quite pleased with the result: Pjotr will transport you to grilling peaches along the Washington coast on a summer evening.
